Mac Keyboard Symbols

If you are newbie in mac, learning the keyboard symbols that appear in the menus and what keys they stand for is essential for accessing various shortcuts. 
You see them on a lot of Mac keyboards and on plenty of keyboard shortcut lists, looking like strange glyphs (⌥), shapes (⇪), and bugs splattered on windshields (⌘). They can be fairly confusing.


 


 Here is the Full Keyboard Symbol List for mac:

⌘ is command

⌥ is option

⌃ is control

⇧ is shift

⇪ is caps lock

← is left arrow

→ is right arrow

↑ is up arrow

↓ is down arrow

⇥ is tab

⇤ is backtab

↩ is return

⌤ is enter

⌫ is delete

⌦ is forward delete

⇞ is page up

⇟ is page down

↖ is home

↘ is end

⌧ is clear

␣ is space

⎋ is escape

⏏ is eject


You can type the European Currency symbol (€) with Option + Shift + 2
Option+Shift+8 produced one like this: Temperature Symbol: 85°
Option+K types a symbol like this: Degree Symbol: 24˚
