This tutorial shows how to enable/manage search in Joomla
In order to activate Search module you should place default Joomla search module to appropriate position and set module settings. Module settings are described below.
Joomla 1.5 version
1. Go to Components->Search. Click on Parameters. There you can configure:
Gather Search Statistics and Show Created Date options. All search queries will be listed if you enable Gather Search Statistics option. We have enabled both options.
2. Go to search form and search particular text. Open Search component after that. Search query will appear in Search Text field.
3. In order to configure search module we should go to Module manager and open Search module. In Module Parameters you can configure the module settings like search field text, button text, etc. Please note that in some cases parameters may not have affect as they were overwritten in css/php files
Joomla 2.5 version
1. There you can configure Gather Search Statistics and Show Created Date options. All search queries will be listed if you enable this option.
2. We have set all options. Go to search form and search particular text. Open Search component after that. Search query will appear in Search Text field.
3. In order to configure search module we should go to Module manager and open Search module. In Module Parameters you can configure the module settings like search field text, button text, etc. Please note that in some cases parameters may not have affect as they were overwritten in css/php files. Most settings are the same as in Joomla 1.5 version.
Joomla 2.5 version based on Gantry Framework
Search results can be configured in K2 component which is used in templates with Framework.
1. Open K2 component and go to Parameters.
2. Find Layout & view options for Search & Date listings section. List of options you can check in the screenshot below.
